It’s free, it’s community driven, and if there’s not already a section for your area, you can create one on the spot.

I’ve been using it off and on for quite awhile, and was actually the first RDU user, but now that Andy and friends have added iCal feeds, it’s on.
If you use iCal or as I do, Mozilla Calendar, to do your scheduling, you can subscribe to a feed that tells you some of the cool events that others have added coming up in your area.

People in Chapel Hill or Raleigh-Durham if you’re listening, start adding some cool shit so I can start attending it.
